Vienna Meeting, which was organized at the OSCE headquarters, served as a follow up to the Ukrainian Round Table on Chemical Safety and Security. Its main purpose was to facilitate interaction among all key stakeholders and enhance information flow and sharing at national and international levels. Consequently, the meeting helped to set up a leading group of stakeholders to assist in the ICSSP development and implementation, what, among others, include:
- Promoting cooperation among relevant Ukrainian and international stakeholders and partners, in order to address the issues of chemical safety and security in Ukraine and the development of the Integrated Chemical Safety and Security Program in Ukraine, including Promotion of the Implementation of UNSCR 1540 (2004).
- Enhancing the chemical security culture and to assisting Ukraine's national chemical security systems in the prevention, the detection of, and response to chemical emergencies, including proliferation and terrorist threats.
- Enhancing discussions on the practical issues relating to the contributions that relevant stakeholders and partners can make towards the enhancement of chemical safety and security and protection of critical infrastructure in Ukraine and the development and implementation of the ICSSP.
It is also important to mention that by taking into account the commonality of issues faced by the implementers of the Integrated Chemical Safety and Security Program in Ukraine and the issues addressed by the organizers of the Global Summit and Fair on Chemical Safety and Security, OSCE granted ICCSS a very rare permission to set up, in OSCE headquarters, an exhibit on CHEMSS 2015.
