ICCSS Advances CBRN Resilience at G7 Global Partnership Concluding Session in Rome

The International Centre for Chemical Safety and Security (ICCSS) actively participated in the concluding session of the G7 Global Partnership meetings in Rome from November 27-29, 2024. The sessions, hosted at the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, marked significant progress in advancing global CBRN (Chemical, Biological, Radiological, Nuclear) safety, security, and resilience initiatives.

Strategic Projects and International Cooperation

ICCSS presented four cornerstone projects during the sessions, highlighting its commitment to addressing pressing CBRN challenges:

  1. A comprehensive Ukraine CBRN threat response program, focusing on empowering local communities and authorities
  2. An innovative CBRN and civil protection training initiative for Palestine, developed in partnership with Jordan
  3. The upcoming Warsaw-Kyiv Resilience Forum, scheduled for December 19, 2024
  4. Regional initiatives for strengthening CBRN preparedness and societal resilience.

The Warsaw-Kyiv Resilience Forum, to be hosted by ICCSS at Vistula University in Warsaw, addresses  critical security challenges emerging from current Russia military aggression against Ukraine and regional conflicts. The Forum will demonstrate the achievements of the cooperation with Ukraine partners in implementing resilience solutions and reducing CBRN threats. The Forum will present innovative approaches including smart city technologies for urban resilience, AI-powered community-based emergency response systems, integrated multi-level resilience solutions and The Cyber Fortress simulation training platform and cybersecurity professional competences and trainings.

Support for Canada's 2025 Presidency

Looking ahead to Canada's presidency in 2025, ICCSS affirmed its commitment to supporting key priority areas, including enhancement of CBRN security measures and resilience, integration of emerging technologies and AI, management of evolving cyber threats and combating CBRN-related misinformation.

Bilateral Engagements and Partnership Development

The ICCSS delegation conducted a series of productive bilateral meetings, strengthening its position as a hub for best practices exchange in CBRN resilience, capacity building societal resilience initiatives, and cooperative threat reduction approaches.

The ICCSS delegation shared updates on its ongoing collaborative efforts in Ukraine, Moldova, and Jordan, and its innovative approaches for CBRN resilience,  demonstrating the organization's expanding international impact.
