The ICCSS President, Ambassador Krzysztof Paturej, addressed an audience of 125 American professionals and government agency officials on the work of the ICCSS in a special session of this year’s annual U.S. Chemical Security Sector Summit. The Summit was organised by the Department of Homeland Security in Washington DC from 21-23 July, with ICCSS the only international organisation invited to participate in the program.

Amb. Paturej spoke in a panel discussion on International Trends and Global Partners in Chemical Security together with Amb. Bonnie Jenkins, the U.S. Department of State’s Coordinator for Threat Reduction Programs in the Bureau of International Security and Nonproliferation; and Mr Tim Scott, Chief Security Officer of the Dow Chemical Company.  Amb Paturej outlined the main elements of the ICCSS integrated approach to chemical safety and security, stressed the need to develop a global market for this sector, and promoted participation in the forthcoming Global Summit and Fair on Chemical Safety and Security (Chemss2016) which the ICCSS will organize from 18-20 April 2016 in Kielce, Poland.

In the exhibition area of the Washington event, ICCSS had a display and information booth on Chemss2016 and discussed cooperation agreements with a number of organisations, including Greenpeace USA. On Monday 27 July, the ICCSS will be the focus of another public event in Washington, this one hosted by the prestigious Center for Strategic and International Studies (CSIS) and co-organised by Green Cross International.
