The Kenyan Program is aimed at creating the necessary infrastructure in Kenya for the use of the achievements of chemistry in a safe manner and in accordance with international standards and to promote economic and trade relations. Premier Piechociński emphasized innovative character the Kenyan Program and noted prospects of inclusion of the Polish companies into the Program under the Go Africa program.
General Leśniakiewicz - Commander in Chief of the State Fire Service confirmed the active involvement of the PSP (State Fire Service) in the Kenyan Program. Amb. K. Mworia from the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Kenya noted the importance of the Kenyan Program for economic development and strengthening of security both in Kenya, as well as in the countries of East Africa. She stressed that the program has the support of African countries and will be implemented in other African nations.
Philip Mibenge of Polish-African Chamber of Commerce pointed out that the leading obstacle to economic development is a weakness, or lack of economic infrastructure of most African countries, which largely relates to the lack of infrastructure and chemical safety in the chemical activities.
As Amb. Krzysztof Paturej, President of the International Centre for Chemical Safety and Security (ICCSS), pointed out that the Kenyan Program has been initiated by a group of Kenyan and international partners, and is co-funded by the Norwegian government. He stressed that the Kenyan program which is coordinated by the ICCSS, implements in practice the ICCSS five basic principles, including sustainability, continuity, public-private partnership, multi-stakeholder participation, and modern Management.
The meeting at the Ministry of Economy was part of an intensive training program organized on 15-19 September for a group of Kenyan leaders of the Kenyan Program, with the participation of the ministries of: Economy, Internal Affairs (the Border Guards and the State Fire Service), National Defence, the Ministry of Finance (Customs Service) and the representatives of Interpol, Dow Chemicals (USA), TNO (Netherlands) and AT Kearney. The training was accompanied by a visit to the border checkpoint in Terespol and Central Customs Laboratory.
During intensive meetings with the Kenyan partners it was agreed to organize in Nairobi, at the beginning 2015, an African Forum on Chemical Safety and Security combined with the technical and trade mission of the Polish public and private partners and a thematic exhibition of Polish potential in chemistry.
