Briefing on the upcoming Global Safety and Security Summit was held at the Organization for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons (OPCW), in the Hague, the Netherlands, 8 February 2016. The event welcomed many distinguished guests, and delegations from Member States of the CWC convention. Distinguished guests and speakers were discussing an important subject of the upcoming Global Safety and Security Summit and its accompanying Fair (CHEMSS2016). Effective presentation was given by the President of the board of the International Centre for Chemical Safety and Security (ICCSS), Amb. Krzysztof Paturej, on the topic of the upcoming Global Summit, and its unique and innovative ways to enhance Chemical Safety and Security over the Globe. Another presentation was delivered by Ms. Diana Pyrikova, Media Consultant at the International Centre for Chemical Safety and Security (ICCSS), focusing on the “Innovative Methods of Finding Global Solutions and its Implementation” through available ICCSS Social Media platforms. The following briefing marked another substantial step towards the Global Summit.
With an introductory remark, Amb. Paturej, emphasized that “We have to build a global movement to reduce chemical threats, free from political biases, with the OPCW in the center of these efforts.” He also stated, “The ICCSS today is a leader in global efforts to enhance safety and security in chemical production, storage, use, transport and waste disposal. Founded and led by former senior OPCW officials.”
Inviting all of the distinguished delegates to participate in the upcoming Global Summit, Amb. Paturej emphasized that “The Summit and the Fair aspire to be a tipping point for national and international efforts to develop a global chemical and ecological safety and security market through internationalization and operationalization of the best existing national and international best practices, capacity building, solutions, and technologies.”
He concluded by saying that “We believe the Summit will be another step in building global responses to the global threat of misuse of toxic chemicals, with the OPCW in the center of these efforts.”
In the support of the importance of the Global Summit, Ms. Pyrikova explained how ICCSS Media platforms provide “Innovative tools for finding and influencing global solutions.”
Introducing each of the Social Media Platforms individually (linked below), and emphasizing each of its advantages and different ways of engagement, she also underlined the innovative way of the Media used by the Centre by saying that “We are building chemical safety and security from the bottom up.”
Concluding remarks were made by the Amb. Paturej, stating that Global Summit on Chemical Safety and Security and its accompanying Fair is very important in providing basis for exchange of information on tools available to maintain Chemical Safety and Security worldwide. Therefore, Global cooperation is crucial for achieving this goal.
