Seminar, which was organized on 3rd of September, during the XXIII International Defence Industry Exhibition by International Centre for Chemical Safety and Security in Warsaw and Targi Kilece and in cooperation with the Polish Chamber of National Defence Manufactures and the Cluster for Rescue, Safety and Civil and Environment Protection, representatives from industry, government, science and civil society were familiarized with the preparations for the Global Summit on Chemical Safety and Security (www.chemss2016.org) and accompanying International Chemical Safety and Security Fair (CHEM-SAFETY-EXPO) to be held in Kielce on 18-20 April 2016. 

Global Summit in Kielce will be the first gathering of all the stakeholders and users of chemicals throughout the world. Chemss2016 and the accompanying fair will become a platform for developing global market for products, solutions and services in chemical and environmental safety and security. The event is part of a broader vision. It will serve as a tool for promoting the presence of the Polish economy on the global market and the development of Polish specialization in chemical safety and security, as the first Polish initiative with a global reach.

The seminar participants stressed that Poland is seen as a leader in chemical safety and security. Polish civilian and military manufacturers indicated that they have knowledge and experience in the development and production of protective equipment and dual-use technologies that can and should be used in strengthening industrial safety and security, what opens new markets and possibilities. It also encourages the advance in innovativeness of the Polish defence industry by attaining the opportunity to become more involved in civilian production. This potential should be included as an important part of developing export-oriented and innovative character of the Polish economy.

It was pointed out that the organization of chemss2016 will initiate the process of making Kielce the world capital of chemical safety and security. Polish and international exhibitors will gain permanent platform of cooperation, presentation and promotion of their achievements in the field of chemical safety and security at a global level.

At a press conference that followed the seminar and was devoted to preparations for the Global Summit, it has been indicated that exploiting the potential of Polish companies in the field of dual-use products and technologies, will promote the further innovation in the defence industry, gain furthermore the opportunity to become more involved in civilian production.
