Under the motto "From Training and Drills to Social Resilience," participants engage in an intensive program that combines theoretical lectures with practical exercises. The youth gain knowledge in fire protection, first aid, and crisis management, contributing to the development of strong, resilient communities ready to effectively respond to various threats.
Training Program as a Tool for Implementing Social Resilience
The training program for Youth Fire Brigades not only prepares young people to serve as firefighter-rescuers but is also a key element in implementing social resilience. Social resilience is the ability of a community to effectively respond to crises, protect lives and property, and quickly return to normalcy after extraordinary events. Through training, young people are prepared to actively contribute to their local environments, which strengthens entire communities.
Support for the Development of Youth Firefighting Volunteerism in Moldova and Ukraine
A primary goal of the course is to provide long-term support for the development of youth firefighting groups in Ukraine and Moldova. After completing the course, participants will return to their local units in Moldova and Ukraine to establish rescue teams within a year. A summer international camp for these teams is already planned to take place in Moldova in 2025.
ICCSS as an International Leader in Promoting Social Resilience
The International Centre for Chemical Safety and Security (ICCSS), co-organizer of the camp, is an international leader in implementing social resilience and promoting the Union Civil Protection Mechanism (UCPM) in Eastern Europe. ICCSS conducts extensive training and exercises in civil protection and crisis response, supporting capabilities to respond to chemical, biological, radiological, and nuclear (CBRN) threats. Through its activities, ICCSS builds international cooperation networks, promoting best practices and technologies that enhance safety and social resilience.
OSP Złotokłos as an Example of Implementing Social Resilience in Practice
The Volunteer Fire Brigade in Złotokłos (OSP Złotokłos) is a model example of implementing social resilience at the local level. Through its active work, OSP Złotokłos strengthens the local community, increasing its ability to respond to threats. OSP Złotokłos participates in ICCSS international programs, including the EURO-MED-REACT exercises in 2023. The firefighters from Złotokłos share their experience with partners from Ukraine, Moldova, and other countries, and have supported Ukraine by sending a fire truck and organizing a humanitarian aid hub.
