Teams from an array of European organizations are mobilizing their expertise and resources to assist Moldova, a country currently grappling with significant natural disasters and a series of CBRN-related emergencies. Participating organizations include the General Directorate of the Fire Rescue Service of the Czech Republic (HZSCZ), the General Inspectorate for Emergency Situations of Romania (GIES), the Ministry of Interior of the Slovak Republic/Section of Crisis Management, and the State Emergency Service of Ukraine and the Lviv State University of Life Safety, Ukraine (LSULS), and Volunteer Fire Service units from Poland.
The EURO-MED-REACT project – led by the ICCSS - serves as a timely response to the escalating need for enhanced civil protection and CBRN threat reduction. Amid complex environmental, health, safety, and security challenges, the need for improved international cooperation and European Union engagement and support is paramount. The international teams' journey to Moldova signifies a critical step in tackling these challenges, advancing civil protection beyond borders, and enhancing us of Union Civil Protection Mechanism (UCPM). The participation of Polish Volunteer fire service units confirm high professional skills and readiness of volunteers to participate in UCPM.
