ICCSS will lead the international efforts in the development of chemical safety and security in Ukraine

During The National round table meeting held on 11-12 December in Kyiv, on the capabilities in the domain of chemical safety and security and the development of an Integrated Chemical Safety and Security Program in Ukraine, the document giving the ICCSS a leading role in this project was adopted.

The National round table convened on the initiative of OSCE Conflict Prevention Centre, the United Nations Office for Disarmament Affairs (UNODA), Ukrainian Chemists Union (UCU) and the International Centre for Chemical Safety and Security. Among the guests invited were the representations of OSCE, UE, UN, INTERPOL and OPCW. President of the ICCSS Board, amb. Krzysztof Paturej, had the honor to be the chairman of the meeting.

 

The participants of the round table emphasized the importance of cooperation between all stakeholders at national and international level in the area of chemical safety and security, including public authorities, private sector, chemical industry, academia, civil society and NGOs. OSCE Conflict Prevention Centre, the UN Office for Disarmament Affairs, the Ukrainian Chemists Union and the ICCSS were all invited to continue to lead the international efforts in the development, implementation and promotion of the ICSSP.
