Core provisions: The MoU core goals include: building material, legal, administrative, and competence capacities for Jordan alignment with UCPM; Enhancing Jordan's regulatory CBRN frameworks and operational capabilities; Strengthening international cooperation, particularly with Poland; Enhancement of societal resilience in civil protection.
Road Map for Implementation: During the ceremony, a road map was agreed upon to implement the MoU. This road map outlines a structured plan to initiate concrete and immediate actions to enhance Jordan's capacities in CBRN (Chemical, Biological, Radiological, and Nuclear) safety and security, align with the Union Civil Protection Mechanism (UCPM), and establish Jordan as a regional hub for CBRN safety and security. The road map is planned for a maximum of 2 years to be concluded with Jordan formally joining UCPM. However, most of these activities could be conducted in 2024, with the subsequent months focusing on internal work on legal, administrative, and operational aspects.
During the visit the ICCSS President conducted consultations with the General Directorate for Safety and Security, where she shared ICCSS experience in assisting to implement international agreements on CBRN and dangerous goods. He also met with Dr. Abdel Belbisi, President of Jordan Centre for Disease Control (JCDC). During this meeting it was agreed to start cooperation, as an element of ICCSS Jordan MoU, on public safety within broad CBRN safety and security.
