ICCSS President addressed OSCE Conference on Cybersecurity

During a session on the role of private sector in enhancing cyber security, Amb. Paturej, outlined the ICCSS vision for a broad multi-stakeholder participation to enhance industrial cybersecurity and reliability.

2022 OSCE-wide Cyber/Information Communication Technologies Security Conference in Lodz,  organised on 20-21 October, 2021 by Polish Ministry of Foreign Affairs, was a core event of Poland’s OSCE 2022 Presidency on cybersecurity. The participants highlighted a series of measures to enhance roles of Organisation for Security Cooperation (OSCE) to increase resilience of Member States against cyber threats. They included need to expand a set of OSCE confidence building measures in cybersecurity, an active engagement to build societal resilience, increase participation and roles of private sector in enhancing cyber security, and support for the development of cyber education.

ICCSS leader stressed that the activities of the state administration and industry so far have focused mainly on cybersecurity and information security (IT). There was an insufficient coverage of the reliability and cyber resilience of industrial networks (OT), which are key topics from an industrial point of view. The same reflects the approaches of the international organisations, including OSCE.

Amb. Paturej offered an innovative, integrated approach to combine industrial cybersecurity with industrial reliability. The ICCSS offered concrete solutions. They include 3 core ICSS achievements: Manual on Good Practices on Cybersecurity and Reliability in Industry; development of a unique training courses to enhance resilience against cyber threat; development and introduction of professional competences in cyber security and reliability in the industry. ICCSS President stressed a need for building common or united US/European approach, to develop a broad international regulatory framework for industrial cybersecurity and reliability. He promoted the development of the Warsaw international protocol which will govern the cybersecurity and reliability. This will enable industrial cybersecurity and reliability become a broad, international norm.
