During the visit to Bucharest on 18th October, 2022, Amb. Krzysztof Paturej, ICCSS President, Romanian partners confirmed an active participation in the EURO-MED-REACT project. The project provides for preparation and conduct a series of exercises to enhance national response to chemical and environmental threats in Jordan, Moldova and Ukraine. Head of General Inspectorate for Emergency Situations (IGSU), general Iamandi Dan Paul confirmed that Romania provided fire service and rescue units, activated Union Civil Protection Mechanism (UCPM), in training mode, and offered expertise support during the exercises within EURO-MED-REACT project.
Dr. Raed Arafat, secretary of state at Ministry of Interior, responsible for Romania civil protection and response, assured at the conclusion of the visit, about the Romania support for ICCSS efforts to enhance national response to chemical and environmental threats in Jordan, Moldova and Ukraine. He stressed the importance of an active engagement of civil society in building public security. It was agreed to prepare new projects and activities to support Moldova and Ukraine in areas of civil protection and response and reducing CBRN threats.
