First International Conference of the series: Advances in engineering safety was held on 7-8 September 2015, at the University of Warmia and Mazury in Olsztyn. International Centre for Chemical Safety and Security was one of the co-organizers and took the honorary patronage over the event. It is also worth mentioning that the President of ICCSS– Amb. Krzysztof Paturej - was a member of the Program Committee and spoke on the issue of "Chemical safety in the European Union".
The event marked the first comprehensive review of the safety sciences and areas related to them. During the four sessions a number of representatives from academia, public administration and institutions responsible for public and process safety from Poland and abroad had a chance to present their views on the issue.
Among the speakers were representatives of the Office of Technical Inspection, the Central Institute for Labour Protection, the National Technical University of Kharkov and the European Association of Security, which graced the event with a photographic exhibition. During the second day, at the so-called "Youth Session ", there was a chance for young researchers and lecturers from many educational institutions from all over Poland to present their views and outlooks on the subject matter.
The conference also provided with many interesting topics and solutions that ICCSS can present and utilise during the First Global Summit of Chemical Safety and Security to be held in April 18-20, 2016 in Kielce. It was an excellent opportunity to establish new contacts with potential participants of the Congress.
We thank the University of Warmia and Mazury, in particular prof. Krystyna Skibniewskiej - Chair of the Scientific Committee, for the opportunity to co-organize this event.
