G7 Global Partnership Nagasaki Meeting Recognizes ICCSS's Pioneering Cybersecurity and Environmental Protection Initiatives

The ICCSS President showcased the organization's impactful initiatives at the G7 Global Partnership's 2nd Meeting, focusing on enhancing cybersecurity in CBRN sectors and critical infrastructure in Ukraine and the Middle East. He introduced the innovative 'Cyber Fortress League' in Ukraine and the 'G7 GP CBRN Cyber Fortress Initiative', collaboratively developed with the Polish Cybersecurity Foundation, State Service of Special Communications and Information Protection of Ukraine, NGO “Poruch”, and under ICCSS's international leadership. These projects aim to elevate cybersecurity and civil protection against CBRNE threats through strategic trainings, exercises, best practices exchanges and the introduction of state of art technologies in CBRNE areas and environmental protection.

The 2nd Meeting in Nagasaki on 9-10 November, 2023, hosted by Japan, brought together 140 participants from member states and international bodies, focusing on preventing the proliferation of WMDs and reducing CBRNE threats. They explored measures against WMD proliferation and exchanged project proposals in sub-working groups on biosecurity, chemical, nuclear, and radiological security, and CBRN. They also discussed measures to assist Ukraine to mitigate consequences of Russia military aggression. The ICCSS Delegation took an active part in the work of the Plenary Sessions and all the Working Groups.

Development of local responses on CBRNE related threats in Ukraine

ICCSS further promoted a joint project with the multiple Ukraine stakeholders to enhance local responses to chemical, biological, radiological, nuclear and explosives (CBRNE) related threats. The background and context of this need are the increasing risks and potential consequences of CBRN related threats to human health, the environment, and society, as well as their severe threat to national and regional security.

Cyber Fortress League in Ukraine and G7 GP CBRN Cyber Fortress Initiative:

The 'Cyber Fortress League', a key proposal by ICCSS, is an advanced simulation platform for honing cybersecurity skills through gamification. It aims to equip Ukrainian talent with essential skills, promoting cyber resilience through competitive and collaborative events. The G7 GP CBRN Cyber Fortress Initiative is expected to garner international recognition and contribute significantly to global cybersecurity. These initiatives represent a significant leap in cybersecurity, providing platforms for experts to engage with cyber warfare challenges directly. They promote preparedness and collaborative efforts, emphasizing the importance of international cooperation to build a more secure global digital infrastructure in the CBRNE domain.

The Cyber Fortress Simulation Game:

This game, developed by the Cybersecurity Foundation in Poland, is a central component of these initiatives, providing a highly engaging and realistic experience for enhancing cybersecurity awareness. It integrates various frameworks to simulate over 60 real-life scenarios in CBRNE domains, enabling teams to effectively manage cyberattacks using limited resources.

Bilateral Meetings and MoU in Kobe:

Throughout the G7 2nd Meeting, the ICCSS delegation engaged in crucial bilateral discussions with national delegations from Canada, Italy, Japan, Norway, Spain, Ukraine, the US, and various international organizations such as the UN, INTERPOL, and the EU. These meetings were pivotal in promoting ICCSS's vision and securing support for its initiatives. During the ICCSS visit to Kobe, a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was agreed upon with Global Projects and Partners Co. Ltd. from Japan. This MoU signifies a joint effort to develop cutting-edge technical solutions for environmental protection and the safe disposal of chemicals, marking a significant stride in global environmental safety initiatives.

The G7 meeting concluded with strong support for ICCSS's innovative cybersecurity and environmental protection initiatives. The 'Cyber Fortress League' in Ukraine and the 'G7 GP CBRN Cyber Fortress Initiative' were particularly lauded for their groundbreaking approach. The MoU with Global Projects and Partners Co. Ltd. highlights ICCSS's expanding role in global environmental safety and security. These endorsements reflect the international community's commitment to enhancing civil protection against CBRNE threats and advancing global cybersecurity and environmental safety and security. The visit to the Nagasaki Atomic Bomb Museum and the Hibakusha's testimony further underscored the critical importance of these global efforts.
