G7 Global Partnership in Tokyo noted its support for Chemss2016

The Chemical Security Working Group (CSWG), within G7 Global Partnership, which met on 14-15 January, 2016 in Tokyo received an detailed information on the Global Chemical Safety and Security Summit, to be held in Kielce, Poland from 18-20 April, 2016 (www.chemss2016.org).

The Group noted that Chemss2016 would bring together chemical experts  from around the world, with a view to enhancing awareness and implementation of chemical safety and security measures.  Particular emphasis will be placed on Africa and Ukraine, small and medium chemical enterprises and cyber-security.  ICCSS presented and circulated during the matchmaking session specific proposals to consider financial support for the Summit. The Group encouraged GP members to provide financial support.

The CSWG noted its support for the Global Summit as an important forum for promoting the exchange of best practices in the chemical security area.

The ICCSS is a unique non-profit organization which actively participates in the work of the Chemical Security Working Group (CSWG) of the G7 Global Partnership. The ICCSS leads efforts to develop professional staff to deal with chemical safety and security and serves as international hub for training courses and programs in chemical and environmental safety and security.

The Group chaired in the past by Poland and Ukraine, is now chaired by the new co-chairs, Mr. Dave Wulf, Director at the United States Department of Homeland Security, and Mr. Trevor Smith from  Global Affairs Canada.
