First female trainers enhance chemical safety and security and civil protection in the Middle East

A first group of female trainers successfully completed a ICCSS led Pilot Train the Trainers Course on Chemical Safety and Security at the ChemReg at Amman CBRN Centre in Amman. The training is a part of the project on upgrading Amman CBRN Training Centre into regional centre for chemical safety and security (ChemReg), funded by France within G7 Global Partnership https://www.gpwmd.com/. While providing general and specialized course for woman in the Middle East, a female trainers stream will offer at ChemReg a broad range of courses in prevention, preparedness for and response to chemical and environmental disasters for female instructors, staff and first responders.

While there is general underrepresentation of women in civil protection and safety and security professions, the Middle East is a region where there is a growing deficit of competent female staff to assist to mitigate chemical and environmental disasters and their consequences.

ICCSS  has initiated the stream of female trainers in  prevention, preparedness for and response to chemical and environmental disasters and civil protection to increase female representation in broad areas of enhancing safety and civil protection. This first group of female trainers will form a backbone of female training stream at ChemReg. They will conduct general and specialized courses and exercises in chemical and environmental safety and security for female trainers and trainees for countries in the Middle East. ChemReg Female Trainers Mobile teams will conduct trainings and exercises throughout the Middle East, with an emphasis on enhancing safety and security of major gatherings and sport events among female staff and participants. They will train female first responders.
