Joseph Asahina

Joseph Asahina is a worldwide valued expert in the field of chemical weapons. He mainly deals with issues of nuclear fuel, risk assessment and activities of countries in the framework of the destruction of chemical weapons (CWD). He is a member of many international and national institutions related to safe destructions of chemical weapons, the Science Council of Japan and of the American Society of Mechanical Engineers.

Education:
He got a Master’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering at University in Osaka and a PhD at Yokohama National University (thesis on “Development of Controlled Detonation Chamber System of Chemical Weapons and Study on Its Effect to the Environment”).

Experience:
He was Chief of Technology of Nuclear and CWD Division of Kobe Steel LTD. in Japan until September 2014. He had overseen and managed CWD projects since 1999. He is still engaged in international projects and programmes related to CWD – in Belgium, France and USA.
